Busy as a Bee

This is what I've been up to, besides working every effing day of my life:

Taking Kennedy to gymnastics. She loves it. Although now she seems to think that EVERYWHERE she goes is a gymnasium.

El martes por la noche, Yo aprendo espaƱol en un clase con mi amigas Ashlee y Sharisse. Es muy divertida.

To help me learn spanish more quickly, I'm reading Harry Potter y las Reliquias de la Muerte (the 7th book). It takes me about 15 minutes to read one page. Hopefully I'll be done by July.

Last Saturday I sat in a recording studio and recorded some vocals for a friend's band- they had me come up with lyrics AND melody, which was somewhat stressful, but fun. I'll let you know when the song is up on Itunes.

Ashlee and I are thinking of starting a cake business. So we are practicing making/decorating cakes. It's fun.

I might be the lead singer for Justin's band, Vicious Starfish. We're going to try it out and see how it goes. The current lead singer decided he just wants to write the music and play guitar.

And the most insane of my endeavors is that I wake up at 5:30 every morning and do P90X. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a 90 day intense workout program. Every day of my life, there is at least some part of my body that is in total pain. I'll let you know in a few weeks if it's worth it. OH- and I want to strangle Tony Horton and all those stupid idiots with amazing bodies on the videos who can do an hour and a half of yoga without falling over even once.

This is my life. So I apologize for the lack of blogging, lately. Hopefully you understand.

Kennedyisms

Let me begin by telling you all that I am just royally screwed. Kennedy came home from school yesterday and announced "Mom- I have a boyfriend. His name is Britain." Ugh. She had been in school for a mere 3 days. THREE days. That is hardly enough time to cultivate a relationship. I seriously hope this isn't a forecast for the future.

Anyway. Moving on...

At the mall, I told her she couldn't ride on one of those quarter-machine rides because I didn't have any change.
K: Mom, next time you go to work, make sure to get lots of money so I can go on aaaalll of those rides that need quarters, k?

K: Hey dad, cheetahs don't run.
D: Oh yeah they do! They're one of the fastest animals in the world!
K: Nuh-uh. They can't run.
D: Um... yes, they truly can, honey.
Mom: Well if they don't run, what do they do?
K: [thinks for a minute] People can eat them.
M: Uh... cheetahs run a lot faster than people.
K: OR we can step on them. And crush them.
M: .... honey, what do you think a cheetah is?
K: ... OH!!! Ok. I know. Not a cheetah. A Cheeto. Cheetos can't run.

We told her that if she didn't finish her dinner, she couldn't have ice cream when we went out later. She didn't finish it. So Justin and I bought some for ourselves.
K: Harley [our dog], can you even believe that our parents didn't get me any ice cream!?? Huh, sister??

Beginning

My Kennedy Rae of Sunshine has entered the big world of Kindergarten.

Since what you wear says so much about you, she was very picky about her clothes. After a few dramatic episodes over her ensemble, she finally settled on the new Tinkerbell shirt, new jeans and new black shoes.

And even though I tried bribing her to let me curl her hair, she was very adamant about the fact that she wanted her hair "in a ponytail." So be it.

Luckily her school is pretty close to our house, so we walk/skip/run. Whatever.

On the way to school I told her three rules:

1. Listen to your teacher.
2. Be nice to EVERYONE. Even if they're not nice to you.
3. Have fun.

She agreed and repeated them back to me.

She was so ready for this day. She couldn't wait to go through those doors.

The kids put their backpacks away and found their name on the rug.

And the boy she sat next to looks less than thrilled to be sitting next to a girl on the first day of Kindergarten.

Kennedy's first day review:

"The best part about Kindergarten is recess."
"Preschool was more fun because I got to play more."
"The teacher just wants me to do art. But I just want to play."

So overall, she does love Kindergarten and is excited to go every day. That's good. Because in a few years I'm just positive that she'll be faking sick so she can stay home. I'll savor these few "school is awesome!!" years.

But reality struck me when I took her there today- she walked up to the door all by herself. Without me. And she went in the classroom door with all the kids. Without her mama. Her mom. The one she needs no matter what she's doing. . . .

My baby is growing up. Waaahhhhh!

Bowl.

Last night we went to Fat Cats.

Kennedy showed us how to bowl granny style.
And did a great job looking adorable as she was waiting for her ball to knock down those pins...

...as the bowl rolled slower than a snail. But hey- at least she was workin' it.

And here is Justin's "I just got a strike and you didn't" face.

Final score:

Kennedy: 92 (with bumpers)
Justin: 89
Ashley: 54

I was of course playing "lowest score wins."
So I win.
