I am one of those incredibly lucky people who has a very best friend- like a soul mate. We've been BFF (um... like...helloo?? "Best Friends Forever"?) for over 14 years. To make things more convenient for people who meet us, her name is also Ashlee.

That was taken about 10 years ago.

This was taken about 10 months ago.
AND we, the Ashleye (pronounced "Ash-lie," which is plural for "Ashley." Kind of like the plural of "fungus" is "fungi"? Same concept.), try to go on

annual trips, just the 2 of us. So far we've only been on one. And that was enough to get us hooked. We went to Cali and played on the beaches the entire time. (Best vacation of my life!)

This year we planned on going to Seattle to visit mi madre. We booked the tickets way back when, because they were on sale, and then, a few weeks later, we found out that Ashlee #1 (that's what we call her because she was born first) was pregnant!! YAY! And the trip was still on, because she would barely be in her third trimester. And we could go baby clothes shopping!
Then we find out that...
what?? Not one baby...

... but TWO BABIES!!
Aren't they cute??
It's weird, but it kind of feels like they're my babies. I know for a fact I'm not the father, but I've known her quite a bit longer than the father has, so I think I should have just as many parental rights as he does, if not more. I told her that, if they're both girls, she should name them both Ashley. She didn't think that was such a good idea, but I still have 6 months to talk her into it.
So we start worrying about the trip. Mostly because the dumb doctor said she's at higher risk for having twins, it's not safe to fly in your third tri-mester, blah, blah, blah, what do they know? Gosh. Hehe
Our trip was scheduled for the end of June, which was the perfect weekend, so it was very difficult to find a different weekend that would be good. Turns out, the weekend that works the best for everyone is Mother's Day weekend! That means we get to go way sooner than we had planned, which is excellent, and what better way to spend Mother's Day than with my beautiful, wonderful, talented mom??

So, in 3 weeks we will be on our fabulous, much-needed, Ashleye vacation. We will relax, goof off, shop, play, talk about boys (our boys, of course) and eat. I can't wait.

Everyone needs an Ashlee.
